GSM, in plain English.
GSM is how heavy the paper is. Higher means thicker and stiffer. Here is what each weight feels like in your hand.

How do A sizes work?
Each A size is half the one before. Cut an A4 in half and you get two A5s. Join two A4s and you get an A3.
How big is A0?
841 x 1189 mm, which is one square metre. Every other A size comes from cutting it in half.
What size is A4 in mm?
210 x 297 mm. It is the normal office printer paper size in Australia.
What size is a DL flyer?
99 x 210 mm. That is one third of an A4 sheet, so it fits a DL envelope and a brochure rack.
What does GSM mean?
Grams per square metre. It tells you how heavy the paper is. Higher GSM means thicker, stiffer paper.
